MERIDIAN 0-2 LEWISHAM BOROUGH
Saturday 5th October
SCEFL Division One
After an early spell of Meridian pressure a cross into the box met the head of Borough’s Archie Todd to give the visitors the lead.
Sloppiness and casualness almost let MVP back in before the break but Stephen Ikempe cleared off the line.
The second half started with Meridian raising their game attacking with real intent. Trey Small was called from the bench at half time as they searched for an equaliser.
Meridian piled on the pressure and their quest for a goal was helped by the sending off for Kristupus Burba who committed a “professional” foul which prevented MVP from scoring.
Replacement goalkeeper Rymell Samms made a string of great saves to deny MVP that elusive equaliser.
In the last five minutes the visitors had to clear the ball off their goal line to keep their slender lead but they killed off the game in the in the 84th min when substitute Khalifa Jabbie got on the end of a cross and tapped home to give them the three points.
