Difficult Day !

On a difficult day with five key players away Meridian made the visit to Rusthall FC.

Boyed on by good performances Meridian started well enough but it was the home side that struck first blood on the 5 minute with a mix up resulting between the midfield and defender that allowed Rusthall to score their first after a very poor clearance 1-0.

Meridian picked up and kept going creating several breaks and chances but with the direct ball play of the home side they soon were two up on the 30 minute with a break down the right after lack of communication from Meridian defence.

After the break everything communicated at half time was thrown out of the window when another costly error allowed Rusthall in to score on the 48 minute 3-0.

Meridian although playing comfortable did not raise their game till being three goals down.

Constant movement and good passing eventually told has a break from the Meridian right with Suliman Charm collecting the ball and beating his players at ease allowed him to assist in a good delivery as Temitope Odunfa came in and met with a composed slotted shot 3-1.

The home side on the back foot was clear has Meridian then sensed they could push at will for the second, but again poor errors cost dearly has Meridian defended well only not to close the home midfielder’s shot who buried it into the roof of the goal on the 67 minute from the edge of the penalty box 4-1.

It was at this time the introduction of Guy Munianga was hopefully going to bring in the changing tide.

An assist coming direct from Kelm Strickland on the 70th minute to Guy who took an expert first touch and bent his second touch and shot around and away from the home keeper into the top right and corner from 20 yards 4-2.

Further changes made late on did not swing the result in Meridian’s favour has the game finished 4-2.

This was a game hard to take by the management has it was a must win, but now the management & squad will concentrate and focus on the last game of the season at home against Bearsted FC on the 28th April 2012 KO 3PM.
