Meridian Stifled Today !!

A game of massive importance for Meridian FC as they focus on the target set at the beginning of the season against today’s opposition Orpington FC.

A new look Orpington started with good momentum as Meridian started the opposite and it did not take long has the away side showed their footballing strategy of direct but positive football.

Meridian defended and kept their shape well but it was on the 11 minute when an unusual misunderstanding thus culminating in the mistake between goalkeeper and defender pushing the ball out of the keeper’s path when called did Orpington capitalise on what can only be classed has a very soft goal 0-1.

This was the wake-up call required although Meridian pretty comfortable pushed and asserted their pattern of play very well.

With the second largest attendance of the season the crowd see Meridian create several clear cut chances out manoeuvring the opposition midfield and defence just that the end product was lacking.

It was only on the 23rd minute when ball possession won by Meridian in midfield who then passed a positive ball to Guy Munianga and in turn helped the ball onto Wayon Anderson with still a lot to do out smarted the defence and slotted his shot bottom right corner 1-1.

Meridian now back in the game went into the break on level terms and time to reorganise and reflect on improvement.

Positive words and clarification on certain positional areas of play see Meridian produce the required level of performance immediately has they looked to push and be more effective.

Meridian started to play more relaxed and the football improved has the level of performance was raised.

Chances were a plenty from the good solid performances of defence & midfield. The away side struggled with Meridian’s play has they dug in deep to achieve something from the game frustrating the home side.

Meridian dug deeper searching for the elusive winner has chance after chance was saved by the keeper, the cross bar, the post and desperate defending.

Even the change of personnel and shape could not change the one way traffic for Meridian has the final whistle blew leaving the home side very frustrated on the result today.

A very entertaining and event filled fixture, the neutral definitely got value for money today!

Meridian now focus and concentrate on Woodstock Park away on Monday 9th April KO 3pm and look forward to achieving the right result has it was definitely points dropped today.
