Meridian Improvement Continues !

Keeping the discipline and concentration along with the momentum of last week’s and previous performances Meridian entertain Erith & Dartford Town FC.

Meridian started the much brighter with new a renewed focus and it was clearly evident that the tempo was too uncomfortable for the visitors.
Good midfield and front line performances warranted Meridian’s first goal where pressure asserted in the last 3rd of the pitch caused havoc and the keeper making the mistake to which Guy Munianga capitalised with a cool finish 1-0.

Meridian knew that the opposition was not to be taken lightly kept the passage play very well and it again told in the 32 minute where Guy Munianga had beaten the defence and assisted in Aderonmu Tunde goal again well taken 2-0.

Boyed on by the display Meridian went in at the interval in confident mood & deservedly so.

After the second half start it was an immediate response from the half time management talk by the players and on 48 minute the compliment was repaid by Aderonmu Tunde, to what can be only classed has a “divine piece of magic” by creating a piece of skill that left the opposition left back looking at thin air and then delivering the fine ball for Guy Munianga to complete the move and his second goal 3-0.

Meridian on the ascendancy were soon brought down to a level playing ground has the opposition put what must have been one of only a few chances with a hope full ball punted up front to their forward who must be said took his opportunity with precision as the oncoming defender and Meridian keeper were beaten by a simple lack of communication 3-1.

The goal a poor one to give away presented Meridian to push for the next and as expected a good display from midfield allowed the ball to be switched to Guy Munianga, who now was in his element and again producing the end product for Aderonmu Tunde who slotted his second 4-1.

Again looking like it was game over EDFT produced a lone attack on Meridian's left where the ball was crossed and a well taken glanced header into the top left gave the goalkeeper no chance by the approaching striker 4-2.

It could be stated that only be a lack of concentration was at fault here by the Meridian players and soon after changes applied to personel brought back the momentum required too finish the game.

The return of Temitope Odunfa to the squad after work commitments had taken him away from the team in March was a welcome boost.

Looking trimmer and lively he soon got back to winning ways with his first goal on the 75 minute cooly taken after another assist by Aderonmu Tunde 5-2.

Soon after Temitope good have had another only to just miss the ball in the 6 yard box.

Today was a good day, which was pleasing to the eye for all to see.
The management very pleased to achieve a reaction from the squad, create chances and have the end result after 90 minutes of football.

We now move onto and focus on a very important home fixture on Good Friday KO 3pm against our visitors Orpington FC.
