Meridian bounce back with a fine disciplined display!!

Meridian came into this game with a sense of purpose after the last result.

With key players returned in the side it was not long before Meridian made their mark soon after the start.

On 5 minutes Meridian scored with neat interchanges after breaking down the opposition well in midfield when the ball was passed to Mohammed Miah on the right who then put a composed through ball to Alex Wasolua who completed the swift move and slotted his shot away 0-1.

The opposition pressed on with neat football but again this was not enough has Meridian kept their composure and on the 21st minute Alex Wasolua won the ball and slotted in Yovonne Otto with a great ball with Otto still having work to do lobbed the oncoming keeper 0-2.

It was nothing more than Meridian deserved has every pass, tackle and ball was keenly contested. This was very much in evidence on the 24 minute with a stern display from Guy Munianga who beat his marker and spotting the run of Temitope Odunfa put him through has Tope put in a great first time shot only to be beat the keeper and then cannoning off the post.

Temitope work rate must be said was exemplary has he worked hard for the team in his position.

2-0 nil up at half time was not good enough has clearly Meridian should have had this game wrapped up.

Credit to the opposition yet again has they pushed forward to save the game, but this was quickly thwarted by Meridian has their game play was of good discipline and kept their composure throughout.

Meridian competed throughout and with good shape and football always looking for that 3rd goal which eventually came on the 78 minute with a run down the right side from Alex Wasolua who was felled in the box by the last defender PENALTY! and off went the player being the last man.

Up got Alex Wasolua who took the penalty and converted with composure and precision 0-3.

Meridian now seemingly won the game did not rest, with changes made to personnel and continued to play the way they are accustomed to with good football.

On the 82 minute the favour was returned when Yovonne Otto received the ball out wide on the right of the box from Alex Wasolua on the edge of the box who then reacted the quickest with a delightful ball chipped in, in time with Alex’s run who guided a beautiful crafted goal with a fine directed header beating the keeper top left 0-4.

It must be said that all players played their part in this fixture and was good to see, a mention must go out to the defence well marshalled and disciplined today.

Meridian now look forward to the Kent Intermediate Challenge Shield 3rd Round tie at home to Sheppey United of The Haart of Kent County League on the 19th November 2011 KO 1.30PM.
