MVP’s last league game of the season was played against the inform APM Contrast. Following a goalless encounter earlier in the campaign another potentially tight game was on the cards. Onto the action…
Contrast showed their intent early when their pacy striker got round the back of MVP’s hesitant back line to hit the crossbar with a thunderous half volley. MVP were then to test the visitors when Thomas Mayfield hit a good half volley which the keeper palmed over the top. Then MVP fell behind to a decent opener. They made inroads down the left hand side and delivered a lovely cross for the striker to head home very well 0-1. MVP have been good at home this season could they muster an equaliser??? Yes they could…..A combination of the Browns Adrian & Grant linked well for the latter to side foot home from a nice low cross. 1-1. MVP continued to grow into the game and were to take the lead from another Grant Brown goal this time an almost identical move led to Brima Daramy having his close range effort saved..only for Brown to follow up and slot home. MVP had turned the game on its head!!!
Daramy forced another good save from the keeper after he broke clear of his marker..This time there was no-one on hand to follow up and APM cleared the ball away.

Rain clouds hovered menacingly above the Stade MVP as both teams entered the pitch for the second half but luckily they passed without any downpours. Contrast and MVP both settled into this period well and neither team dominated the game. Contrast however got their equaliser when their striker smashed home from close range following great work by their winger down MVP’s left.
Undeterred MVP were to take the lead once again. Ryan Minnott was put through down the Contrast left. He showed great pace to get away from the full back to finish well for 3-2. MVP involved in another topsy turvy game. This has been the blueprint of our season. Try as we may to see the game out Contrast were to forge another equaliser as the clock reached 5pm!!! It was a decent finish to be fair from another low centre into the MVP box the winger flicked the ball past Ashton for 3-3.
One moment that has to be mentioned though is that when the game was 3-2 Contrast were chasing the game. One of the MVP lads was down injured and the keeper who was fully entitled to play on put the ball out of play. Proper sportsmanship there it has to be said.
