It was an entertaining draw the last time these two teams met way back in September…..Could MVP chop down the Forest…onto the action
Both teams made fairly edgy starts to the game neither really showing their hands. Attacks were few and far between and there were no real goal scoring opportunities. It was however MVP who took the lead from an Inswinging free kick from wide out on the left hand side. Grant Brown sent in a decent free kick which sailed over everyone and nestled in the bottom corner. MVP enjoyed a spell of dominance but came unstuck when FHP equalised following a midfield mix up. They moved the ball quickly down MVP’s left to then square the ball into the box for a close range finish. As the whistle loomed for half time MVP nudged themselves in front again when Brown scored his second. He was found on the edge of the box turned well to slot home right footed.
HT FHP 1-2 MVP
The second half was a tense affair and for the first twenty minutes both sides nullified each other. Then the home side got themselves back on level terms. Their pact left winger got on the end of a decent through ball to finish well past Ashton for 2-2. Try as we may MVP could not forge any decent chances apart from a close range chance for Adrian Brown that the home keeper done well to smother.
FHP took the lead with what can only be described as a pea roller. Their midfielder travelled unopposed towards the MVP box and unleashed an effort which somehow deceived Ashton to roll into the bottom corner. MVP’s hard work undone. FHP defended their lead well and increased their tally when they bundled home their fourth and final goal from a header at the far post. There was to be no comeback for MVP and we slid to a disappointing defeat.
