MVP Entertain In What A Ding Dong Affair !!

MVP travelled over to Dartford to face Kent Football United in what turned out a real ding dong affair…..

It didn’t take long for MVP to get in the scoresheet on this chilly Saturday and as a result of a decent move inspired by good interplay between Elmes and G Brown. Who then layed the ball into the path of the now prolific McGinty. Who side footed home unmarked from about 8 yards. Moments before this we should have gone a goal up but A Brown fired wide when through on goal…

KFU responded well and carved out two almost carbon copy chances when their lively striker Cassius burst through on two occasions. However, his finishing left a lot to be desired and MVP escaped….Both sides enjoyed good possession but it was McGinty who could of had his second but for a fine save from the keeper. HT KFU 0 MVP 1

In the second half the game took on the same pattern. MVP increased their lead early when McGinty outpaced the defence and finished very well by lobbing the ball over the keeper and kneeing the ball home for 2-0. KFU then burst into life and starting going at our defence. They reduced the arrears when Thomas broke the offside trap and finished well to Ashton’s left. Then, almost immediately it was 2-2 Thomas again getting through and firing home this time to Ashton’s right. They had a massive opportunity to take the lead but their lively winger (whose name escapes me) fired over the bar with only Ashton to beat. At this point this was anyone’s game. However, it was to be G Brown who had the final say….McGinty was fouled on the edge of the box and the aforementioned Brown struck home a decent free kick to make the score 3-2. Both keepers were called into Action and Ashton had to make some good saves. MVP kept the home keeper busy who himself made some good saves.

MVP managed to get to the final whistle safely and came away with a hard fought 3-2 victory.

Credit to both sides for serving up a very entertaining affair.

Up next for MVP is Rusthall at home next Saturday 26th March
