In today’s fixture was about improving on the last week’s performance against Crockenhill FC and achieve the right result.
It was the opposition that started and then actually applied the spanner in the works with a switched on early goal scored by their top scorer Ricky Freeman on the 3rd minute.
He then duly obliged 6 minutes later with his second making the task in hand all the more difficult to claw back.
After the early set back it was only then Meridian started to assert themselves with neat interchanges in the first half which stifled the opposition. Meridian came close to scoring on the chances they did create only to be thwarted by the wood work.
At only two goals down Meridian still had a chance in this game and came out in the second half to try to achieve the something back out of this game.
Good fluent passing was good to see by Meridian, but decision making was poor as the opposition carried out their task with simplicity after Meridian conceded the ball on several occasions throughout the second half.
This was pretty much evident in the next three goals scored on the 60th, 71st & 90th minutes which summed up Meridian’s day.
Meridian were very generous to the opposition which they duly accepted, the management clearly not satisfied with the inconsistency or the level of performance today which will be corrected in next week’s six pointer against Rusthall FC at Jockey Farm.
