Frustration As Win Eludes Meridian !

Meridian looked forward to this game with anticipation and with the extended layoff due to the weather elements it was a welcome return to play football!

Meridian are starting the second half of the season with a renewed focus and realistically looking to improve all aspects of their game.

This fixture was going to be a tough affair but it was Meridian who started and dominated the play with the creation of several chances but the only item missing was the end product of finishing.

The 1st half display had an element of frustration which the home side duly accepted coming close with their own chances.

Meridian went into the half time break knowing the game should have been sealed and with the right direction dictated from the management the rewards would follow duly in the second half.

To upset the apple cart so to speak it was the home side that capitalised on a poor concession of the ball within the 1st minute of the start to which their goal came, 1-0.

Meridian moved onwards and stepped up their game and it was not long when a corner conceded by the home side on the 57th minute. Delivered by Dean Carpenter a towering James Holder had no problem to head into the net with conviction, 1-1.

Meridian sensing more from the game pushed and hurried, with change of personnel hoping to bring some reward for the efforts, but it was not to be as this game started to stretch in the last 10 minutes and with unbelievable saves from Meridian’s keeper Jamie Brinkley thwarting last ditch efforts from the home side.

On reflection of the whole game Meridian felt this was two points dropped whereas the home side would have been clearly satisfied with the result.

Meridian now move forward to next week’s home tie with Hollands & Blair with anticipation.
