Meridian at home today and a six pointer for both clubs to stay afloat and extend their points difference between each other.
The game was a very cautious affair but it was Meridian who asserted themselves in a much better light even with six first team squad members away.
As always Meridian tried to implement the football that has always been fluent and good to the eye.
Several chances created from open play but only the end product that was omitting from the chances created.
It was not until the 43rd minute when a soft free kick awarded to the opposition on the edge of the 18 yard box which was taken with a very poor kick but somehow manage to find its way through a crowded penalty box and a poor mistake by the stand in keeper 0-1.
Meridian filling aggrieved knowing that the 1st half should have been several goals to the good refocused at half time.
Although Meridian pushed and looked likely to score it was the away team that capitalised on the 55th minute with a goal out of nothing 0-2.
Meridian kept applying pressure but in today’s fixture with several players below par and away, could not stop the penalty on the 70 minute and two quick goals on the 76 & 79 minute 0-5.
Players will have to learn to remain vigilant and concentrate in what can only be said to be a second half poor performance.
We leave this behind in the office and look to improve in every department in our next fixture away to Ashford Utd.
